The WCIA wants to get people thinking, talking, and taking action on important global issues. One of our values is the protection of human rights, so we are running events and getting involved in campaigns to celebrate human rights.

What are human rights and why are they important?

Human Rights grant freedom, justice and peace to every human being. The United Nations agreed that everybody is born free and has to be treated equally and with dignity.

The right to seek asylum

One human right is the right to seek asylum from persecution (Article 14) in every country.

With the number of people seeking santuary higher than ever, the need to provide refuge is vital. We joined the Refugees Welcome Campaign last year and also support the City of Sanctuary movement, for Wales to be a country of hospitality and welcome.
