Communicating with purpose

This course will help you communicate your work to a wide audience using the media and the copywrite mobilewebsitewatch.cominternet.

The course is suitable for anyone who wants to improve the way they communicate the work they do – either through learning more about developing free websites and using Facebook and Twitter, or through using your local media to highlight your work to the wider public.

The course explores the basics of communications and simple steps to develop a coherent communications plan that is applicable to small volunteer-run organisations.

Objectives:

  • Understand communications and communications tools (discussing audiences, messages, social media, and different forms of media)
  • Develop a simple communication plan for your organisation
  • Use web software to increase your online presence for free
  • Use social networking to engage new audiences and generate income
  • Use the media to promote your work (understand what makes a news story, how to write press releases, how to work with journalists)

This course is free to attend (but £25 will be charged if you register and do not attend).
