Susie Vetris-Field is WCIA's new Chief Executive

The Welsh Centre of International Affairs is pleased to announce that Susie Ventris-Field has been appointed as the new Chief Executive.

Chair of Trustees Chrishan Kamalan said “On behalf of the WCIA Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce the appointment of the Centre's next Chief Executive.  Further to an open and competitive exercise which included an element of assessment by external stakeholders, the Board has appointed Susie Ventris-Field who is the current Acting Chief Executive. She will take up her position as from Wednesday 1st August 2018. Susie will be the first female executive to head up WCIA which has been a Charitable Incorporated Organisation since 2015.  Susie's strategic leadership skills, in tandem with those of the non executive members of the Board, will be fully utilised as


Susie first joined the WCIA as a volunteer for the Wales International Development Hub and then went on to work as Deputy Chief Executive for 5 years which involved being responsible for fundraising, communications and establishing systems, policies and processes to help underpin continuing success of the WCIA. the Centre progresses to its 50th birthday in 2023."

Susie previously worked for Chwarae Teg in North Wales, supporting women with career progression and employers to implement best practice in equality and diversity, as part of a broader aim to narrow the gender pay gap in Wales. She has worked in Kenya and Eritrea in primary and secondary education teaching students and helping teachers to implement regional improvements to education processes.
