Remembering War and Working for Peace

Tuesday 11 November 2014

9.00am-4.00pm

Tŷ Hywel, National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff Bay

We are delighted to invite you to an educational event for learners aged 14-18 about the First World War and the impact of conflict.

As part of the National Assembly for Wales’ First World War memorial activities, we are holding an event at the National Assembly on Tuesday 11 November 2014.

The day is an opportunity for learners not only to remember those who died in the war, but also to understand the views of different countries and groups of people, including those that stayed at home. It will enable learners to consider and to think critically about current situations of conflict and to discuss how young people can promote reconciliation, justice and peace in the future.

Experienced speakers in the field will promote the discussion of challenging questions about these issues and the day will be an ideal opportunity to develop learners’ skills of communicating, thinking and working with others effectively.

Each school/college is asked to bring a team of 6 learners. Please be aware that you will be asked to do some preparatory work prior to the event.
